Introduction

National Manufacturing Week is a major annual trade show in Chicago for US manufacturers.  It is organized by NAM - The National Association of Manufacturers - and produced by Reed Exhibitions.  It consists of multiple shows and conferences presented together - National Design Engineering, National Industrial Automation, National Enterprise IT, National Plant Engineering and Facilities Management, Cleantech Cleaning Technology, Envirotech Expo and Conference, Micro Systems USA, and Aluminum USA.

Scroll down for a selective list of exhibitors related to our work in 2004 and 2005, limited to those which are considered to be relevant to our specialty, as listed elsewhere already on this website.  We attended this event (not as an exhibitor), and met with many contacts, as in the past.  Many economic development organizations also exhibit at this event, as shown below.

Details can be found at www.manufacturingweek.com .  The March 20-23, 2006 show was in Rosemont, Illinois at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center near O'Hare Airport, opposite the Hyatt Regency O'Hare and several other hotels within walking distance, rather than at the McCormick Place Convention Center in downtown Chicago as in the past.

US Department of Commerce officers from embassies in most countries in the Americas region were available for meetings at the 2005 National Manufacturing Week trade show in Chicago, such as to support export promotion activities and discuss specific challenges or opportunities which manufacturing executives may be facing in the region.  This includes important recent developments such as CAFTA - Central America Free Trade Area - and FTAA negotiations.  For 2006 details, see http://www.buyusa.gov/eme/nam.html

We specialize in personal, independent introductions to relevant professional service providers such as business location strategy consultants and our many economic development contacts according to the project interests of the executives we serve.

Our Professional Site Selection Tour and "Meeting Point" services also introduce site selection professionals who can assist communities through special research trips ("inward visits" or familiarization tours), pre-scheduled meetings at major events, and services designed to support their competitive benchmarking analysis, investment promotion strategies, and marketing programs.  www.ontheshortlist.com

We can also privately coordinate executive visits to one or more business locations when planning an investment project or seeking local business alliances.  Please contact us to discuss such services or introductory referrals.

This directory has been provided for convenience to show how our "Event Recall" service can be helpful to executives and their advisors as well as the EDO's (economic development organizations) or service providers relevant to our specialty which have invested to be exhibitors at a major industry trade show such as this one.

Refer also to our Ad Recall list of areas which advertise, or the lists of associations and publishers and location consultants or consultant tips about location selection.

The section headings below link to regional lists of contacts (not just exhibitors).

These examples just list the exhibitors and website links.  Participants in this service would have more complete listings (summary, contact name, phone, email, address) with links to Area Profiles or other related content to highlight the area for potential investors throughout the year.

Although there was a show directory service for National Manufacturing Week on their website, it would have been quite tedious for attendees to develop a simple list like this of all the economic development exhibitors because they were categorized in very inconsistent ways.

David Mayer  646-228-8895  New York

  • Over $500 million in R&D tax credits for clients
  • Services to over 1000 private and public companies

alliantgroup specializes in US federal and state R&D tax credits and incentives, typically for companies with over 100 employees up to hundreds of millions of dollars in revenues.  The management team includes very experienced tax specialists from all Big Four public accounting firms.

Many executives may not yet realize the very large cost savings which can be achieved now through these research and development tax credits.

The eligibility criteria have changed so that more types of costs qualify for this incentive program, and the tax savings can be both retroactive and carry forward.

Potential savings may be overlooked by tax advisors who don't specialize in such work.  This advisory work does not conflict with "attest" services by auditors, because alliantgroup is not a public accounting firm.

The savings often range from several hundred thousand to millions of dollars which can be obtained within a few months.  More >

Association member services
Site Selection Network, NAM - National Association of Manufacturers - This is a free member service to gather promotional information from many participating areas to support business location decisions by any NAM members who request such help. This is similar to the reader service form processes for development magazines, except that they gather basic information from current sponsors anonymously and organize it into a notebook for members, instead of distributing the enquiry to all current advertisers in the areas of interest. This is not the same thing as professional site selection consulting services.  They also may not have contacts in all areas of interest, just as any help from development magazines is limited to referrals to current advertisers or reference to their website for articles and advertiser directories.  The service is also limited exclusively to participating US locations, with no services to support investment in other countries because of the nature of NAM as a lobbying organization for US manufacturers, even though their members compete globally.
