Jacksonville,
Illinois is located in Morgan County, approximately 30 miles west of
Springfield. It is much closer to St. Louis, Missouri than to Chicago,

The area is
roughly 90 miles north of St. Louis, Missouri and 200 miles southwest of
Chicago via Interstate 55 through Springfield, which serves as a major
north-south corridor to Memphis TN (more than 300 miles) and Louisiana
(roughly 700 miles). From St. Louis there are
highway links in many directions nationwide, such as Interstate 70 west to
Kansas City and Denver, or Interstate 44 to Oklahoma and Dallas, Texas.
There are also good interstate routes to the east and southeast
Springfield is located along Interstate
72, which is the route from Quicy, Illinois on the west side of the state along
the Mississippi River
through Springfield to Decatur. That continues as Interstate 74 from the
Champaign-Urbana area to
Indianapolis, Indiana and other eastern locations.
The proximity to I-74 west (from Peoria to Davenport Iowas, and I-80 to Des
Moines) and I-39 north (to west of Chicago and north to Madison or
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, avoiding the congested routes closer to Chicago) can
also be relevant to distribution projects. The
location is also relevant to projects which require railway services.
