and more detailed presentation of feedback by specific investors in an area
about topics which may be of concern to potential investors. Instead
of a few friendly quotes by past investors, it is intended to share greater
insights into the actual business climate of an area, and thus make it
easier for executives and their advisors to identify and address critical
questions when planning investment projects. |

Note that there are independent feedback processes to share "lessons
learned" or "proven
solutions". The Testimonials are prepared in cooperation with
local area representatives or professional service providers to highlight executive
experiences in their service areas on typical issues of importance to
potential investors.
Separate processes have also been set up for executives to
share their
interest in our various services, and
feedback about our work together, including the fast and easy
Executive Survey to guide our
work (basic questions for reply by email). Most such feedback,
however, will remain confidential rather than be published. |
Recent investment projects in an area (generally within the last 3 years)
may be the subject of
Project Profiles, which are highlighted through the
lists of recent projects by
industry or location.
These Testimonials selectively highlight relevant
experience among major existing investors on typical issues of importance to
new investors in an area, typically reflecting much longer experience in the
market than the Project Profiles.
There is also the option of the
GUIDE Experience
Report work to develop a more comprehensive and representative sample of
investor experiences in an area as an independent professional service for
objective research and analysis. |

list available GUIDE Testimonials about the experience of executives with
the development and outcomes of their direct investment projects in a
specific location, such as :
- Highlights of experience doing business in an area, or as a
client of specific services, on topics of likely interest to other
executives when facing direct investment project decisions (costs, human
resources, logistics, infrastructure, etc.), which may include comparisons
to other places where the company has similar business operations.
- General business environment and specific support services by
local or regional economic development agencies, investment promotion
agencies, Chambers of Commerce, etc., including business retention and
trade promotion programs
- Experience with other services to support domestic or foreign
direct investment (FDI) projects, such as for business expansion, plant
location decisions, international expansion, etc.
- Business location strategy or "site selection" consultants
- Incentives consultants, tax advisors, and project finance
- Project management, design and construction services
- Logistics services, travel and transportation
- Human resources services, local labor market conditions
- Corporate real estate services
- Community services, infrastructure (utilities, etc.)

This section will break down
into two common types of testimonials.
- Direct experience establishing and doing business in the
location. See also
Project Profiles,
which document project decisions at the time of investment, whereas
Testimonials are intended to reflect the experience of established
operations, but the topics will typically parallel those of the
Template used
to outline the content of a Project Profile about a recent investment.
- Direct experience working with professional service providers
related to direct investment projects in the area.
The testimonials will be available through links from the list below as
well as other links, such as from the GUIDE Area Profiles or Service
Profiles, or the regional tables of area representatives (as a link under
the Experience Reports heading).
The listings will be organized geographically and by other attributes,
such as industry or type of business operation (factory, regional
headquarters, back office support functions, distribution, etc.).
The purpose of this section is to organize, in a consistent manner,
significant feedback from existing investors or clients about actual
experiences so that it is easier for executives to share valuable local
knowledge. Ideally, the testimonials should provide suggested contacts
to confirm the content, or to discuss the observations, so that executives
and their professional advisors can more easily determine how these
subjective and objective comments by other executives may relate to their
own investment decisions. |

service is that, for testimonials to really be meaningful to potential
investors in areas or professional services, they need to be specific,
actionable insights which can be verified as part of the ordinary "due
diligence" work before any major project investment commitment is made.
General quotes about how wonderful a place is, such as the general quality
of life or business environment, are not as useful as specific examples
describing what has helped that specific company to achieve exemplary
performance. The testimonials are expected to be brief but meaningful
insights, rather than just a few friendly quotes for promotional purposes.
For example, if the company were not already operating in this location,
would it choose to set up there now, and why? What is the benefit?

the limited work involved on our part. This is paid by the area
representative or service provider, but we only accept such testimonials on
a selective basis. To be accepted, the content needs to be significant
to potential investors, with verifiable quotes. General promotional
"hype" is not valuable as a basis for executive decisions.
