Information about
Cityscape USA -
This successful series of global events about commercial real estate
investment and city development
projects in big emerging markets will come to New York City in September
2008,
and will also showcase developments in North American cities to major foreign investors.
Contact us for details. |
| Please
contact us if you may be interested in expanding your business into
Alabama. We are
independent
advisors - not a government agency or investment promotion
agency. |
The "Seek Advice"
section outlines topics which may be helpful to us as background to support
your project plans in confidence through our experience and extensive
contacts. |
|
Area Profiles and Area
Surveys are executive summary presentations about business locations.
These may include maps, links to commercial real estate listings of
available industrial and office sites and buildings, investment project
news, information about existing businesses in the area, labor market
information, and investment incentives. Such content makes it easy to
search for relevant locations, as shown by our
Area Search
service. |
We can also highlight recent project
announcements, advertising, and promotional events as well as independent
consultant research reports about communities or industry clusters.
Our "Professional Site Selection Tour" service at
www.OnTheShortList.com organizes
business location research work and Area Reports through consultant "familiarization tours",
and our "Meeting Point" work pre-schedules B2B introductory meetings at
events. |

Explanation of column
headings above
- Organizations are generally sorted in
postal code order so that locations which are geographically close to each
other will usually (not always) be grouped together. This is a
selective directory, even though the state directory is more comprehensive
than the very selective one we will maintain at the regional level to
highlight the organizations which support our work or are found to be of
frequent interest for the convenience of the executives and business
advisors we serve.
- Scope : is the area served by the
organization, and postal code. We may include thumbnail maps which
expand to show information about participating areas, or link directly to
good maps or GIS research tools on the organization's website.
- Contacts : relationship leader at GDI
Solutions for maintaining information about contacts in this area.
If there is a working relationship through our various GUIDE services, we
also list the key organization contact, phone, and optional e-mail.
- Website and other resources : Aside from
the main website link, we may include other direct links to highlight
special features of expected interest to executives, especially if they
might not be readily noticed by just visiting the website. A good
example of this is when relevant content is actually maintained somewhere
else, such as a regional website rather than the local one, so that one
would otherwise need to know to follow the available links between the
websites.
|
The default
for all other columns is "No" unless the organization supports our work.
- Survey : areas which have responded to our
GUIDE Network Survey, with a link to their response for convenience if
published (optional) and highlighted at the top. This is often
useful as an executive summary at the "long list" stage of location
selection.
- Profile : participates in our GUIDE Area
Profile service (also highlighted at the top of the page). This
involves a closer working relationship to maintain more timely and
detailed knowledge of the area throughout the year, and also involves a
more detailed executive summary on the website, with many relevant links.
If there are significant incentives in the area, we may also link to a
GUIDE Incentives Profile.
|
|
All area representatives are encouraged to reply to the free
GUIDE Network
Survey, which consists of very basic questions to help maintain
timely knowledge about many areas for referral purposes. Area
representatives : see
how to
participate. Current service pricing
is listed on the
Order Form (Adobe Acrobat .PDF file). Refer also to any
special offers.
Please help us to help you by supporting our work.
Executives who use this service are encouraged to
respond to our free
Executive Survey, which helps us to continuously improve.
|
The presence, absence,
or position of any organization on these lists,
or their position on the lists, does not imply any endorsement or opinion about their services,
nor by them about our own. The selections are simply intended to be helpful to executives who may be
unaware of such contacts, or how to reach their websites quickly.
Please contact us directly for relevant introductions or any additional
contacts, market knowledge, and research which we don't publish. |
The
directory above is a "long list" extension of our contacts directory for the
larger
US
Southeast region,
following the same structure as our
global contact directories.
These area representatives
would typically include
-
a state department of
commerce or industry or a provincial government office
- greater
metro city or county area chamber of commerce
-
county economic
development agency
-
industrial development
corporation or council - IDC
-
alliance for business
development, community development
-
investment promotion
agency - IPA
-
industry cluster development initiatives, business
incubators, technology parks
-
regional or global professional B2B networking
organizations, business partnering, joint venture development, or strategic
business alliance services
-
trade and investment
promotion offices
We welcome
reciprocal links
from relevant organizations. |
Despite the
wide variety of names for such economic development organizations, and
variances in the scope of their services, the ones we list are generally
actively involved in efforts to attract, expand, and retain business
investment projects in their areas (offices, factories, etc.), including the
attraction of foreign direct investment projects (FDI). This typically
includes support services, financial incentives, and information for
corporate site selection decisions as well as local business retention and
expansion services.
Suggestions are welcome, and please report any broken links. |
|
Contact information for relationship
leaders at Global Direct Investment Solutions : |

We develop and maintain
working relationships among participating area representatives - economic
development organizations - and professional service providers as well as
senior corporate executives who are responsible for the planning of major
projects such as new, relocated, expanded or consolidated offices,
factories, distribution centers or other operations. |

August 29, 2005 - Hurricane Katrina devastated Gulf of Mexico
coastal areas from Louisiana across Mississippi and Alabama to the northwest
Florida panhandle, particularly with storm surge flooding near the coast and
torrential rains not only in the immediate area, but also in areas farther
north along rivers which drain through the region.
Information about Katrina and
other US hurricanes.
Although news coverage has concentrated on the most dramatic scenes in some
of the major cities such as New Orleans, Biloxi, Gulfport, and Mobile, this
is a catastrophic natural disaster across a widespread area on a scale
rarely seen in the last century. |
Congratulations to Mobile, Alabama for winning the
EADS North
America project for a new Airbus engineering center which is expected to
lead to production of the new KC-330 tanker aircraft for the US Air Force,
which may result in up to 1000 jobs and a $600 million capital investment.
The initial investment in the engineering center is expected to create 150
jobs. Other locations on the final short list, after review of 70
sites in 32 states, included sites in Florida, Mississippi and South
Carolina. EADS had previously invested in Mobile for another facility,
and also has operation in Columbus Mississippi.
The announcement was made shortly before the arrival of Hurricane Katrina in
Mobile. |
