Chicago's
ranking in the 2007/2008 North American Cities of the Future benchmarking or
"short list" research by fDi magazine was:
- Overall winner, Major Cities (over 2 million
population)
- Winner, Best Economic Potential
- Winner, Best Development and Investment Promotion
- Winner, Best Infrastructure
- Runner-up, Most Cost Effective
- Top Five, Best Human Resources
- Top Five, Best Quality of Life
- Top Five, Most Business Friendly
  |
A remarkable
aspect of the #1 outcome is that Chicago finished in the Top 5 "short list"
for all seven of the weighted selection factors, which were based
on the comparison of over 60 facts in the nomination and selection process
by an independent panel of experts. For reference,
few other cities in any of the four size ranges were ranked in the Top 5
"short lists" on more than 3 selection factors.
For complete results
across all size ranges, refer to the April 2007 article in fDi or our
