| This section will be
elaborated in the future if interest is confirmed. The work which we do to
support executives is generally free. There may be circumstances,
however, in which good information is simply not readily available, or can't
be found without considerable work which goes beyond the usual scope of work
funded by other participants. This is not the focus of our efforts,
but may well arise as an issue, as it has in the past. Some knowledge
simply isn't of the "off the shelf" variety, either within our own
capabilities or those of contacts who we can identify.
Our intended role in such situations is to try to help executives find
professionals who actually have the experience, knowledge, and contacts to
perform high-value research effectively and efficiently. It is not our
intention to attempt such research as a service of our own. We will
try to use our networks to find the talent which can address the needs.
At some point, however, if we can't readily find what is needed, we need
to either cut off the search or "turn the meter on", for the company to pay
for the research work rather than the other participants. This is
clarified in the section on
Performance Goals and Metrics. If we can't find what is needed, we
will be candid about it, and suggest alternatives as best we can, but as
explained in the section about
limits
on free services, we cannot do everything which might ever be requested
of us. |
We may become more involved in
the process, however, when multiple corporate participants provide feedback
indicating a common need, such as for research on business conditions in a
particular market of special interest at the time. Instead of every
company doing a small research project on their own, we may try to organize
such participants for a group project with a larger scope and better
research quality, perhaps even including multiple sources when necessary.
As a shared service, the result can be better work at a lower cost for all
participants. In such a scenario, we would help the executives to organize
such a shared research project, and would be compensated for doing so since
this is unrelated to our usual work as funded by other participants. |
