Suggestions are welcome See the
Executive Survey page. As the network of participating corporate
executives grows, we intend to conduct very simple surveys on a periodic
basis to improve our understanding of the information needs of such
executives
We may also solicit periodic feedback about their investment experience (lessons
learned, proven solutions,
experience working with specific service providers or areas, etc.) which can
either be shared "on the record" or anonymously, whether as individual
responses (quotes or anecdotal situations) or analysis of all the survey
responses.
This is intended to reinforce, through a more scientific survey process,
the knowledge gained through the more "self-selecting" replies to the
relevant sections of this website, or through the direct work of our
relationship leaders among such executives. After all, the "bad news"
often rises quickly to the surface, but one often has to do research to
identify the "good news" which is too easily taken for granted. |
Among the suggested topics
for such research at this time:
- Global regions or specific areas of potential future interest for
direct investment decisions, whether for new projects or for expansion,
relocation, consolidation, etc.
- Current expectations for direct investment within the next three to
five years (scale, region, increasing, decreasing, etc.)
- Types of investment projects foreseen (function for the company)
- Preferred sources of information or support services to assist with
the investment process (not just location selection - other services)
- Critical "drivers" of investment decisions
- Information needs which have proven hard to meet adequately
- Recent major projects, and what drove the location choice
- How to make our services more valuable to the participants
- How our services have been applied to recent major projects
- Feedback about lessons learned, other services used, etc.

| Aside from the use of a
structured survey, executives are welcome to share their
insights at any time on the topics highlighted above, or suggest effective
ways to conduct such research.
For example, we welcome suggestions of existing survey processes which
executives have found to be well-designed and helpful, whether or not the
topic of the survey was related to global direct investment work. |
We would share the
non-confidential responses among participants as appropriate according to
the preferences indicated by the participants, but would otherwise treat
responses as confidential (such as to guide our own work, or to guide others
through summary analysis of the key conclusions. Distribution of the
research would probably be limited, or divided into a "public" analysis and
a more detailed report for survey participants or other active participants
in our services. |
| Once again, we are not in
business to conduct survey research and publish reports. Such market
research work will only be undertaken to help us fill gaps in knowledge
related to our ability to better serve executives through the open sharing
of practical experience and knowledge in this niche market.
The main GUIDE Network Survey is among area representatives to organize
knowledge which can be helpful to executives as they consider investment
alternatives on a global basis. Feedback from executives can help us
to make that Survey more valuable by providing evidence of what executives
"need to know", and that the responses are of interest to top investment
decision makers. |
Most of the work we do with
executives is expected to be confidential, and handled directly through a
single designated global relationship leader.
Rather than conduct survey work, it is the responsibility of that
relationship leader to personally develop a more detailed understanding of
the needs of participating executives, and learn how to share valuable
knowledge in an appropriate manner to support their performance.
That is the focus of our work - not to conduct and publish surveys.
The surveys just help to build our knowledgebase so we can do a better job
of helping executives to develop faster and better investment decisions. |
