Once a working relationship is
established between GDI Solutions and the responsible executives at a
participating company, so that the fundamental business operations and typical
needs of the company are better understood by the relationship leader as the context behind specific
support requests, the goal of GDI Solutions is to respond effectively to
participants as follows :
- Within 24 - 48 hours (if not
immediately) for basic information requests which involve familiar business
locations or services
- Within one week if research within
the GDI Solutions "Network" of contacts and information sources is necessary
to try to identify a solution or gather information
- Within one week to confirm whether a
solution is expected to be found or not, and agree whether further external
free research is appropriate
- Within two weeks if direct or
indirect research is required beyond the established GDI Solutions "Network"
to try to identify a solution
- Within four weeks or as agreed if
the external research is agreed in advance to involve very complex issues
which are expected to be difficult or costly to research
We may not be able to respond as rapidly to
executives who contact us without any prior working relationship. It
may take some time to fully understand the needs of their business, and to
find solutions for requests which we couldn't anticipate for lack of prior
contact about the project requirements.
The principle is the same, however. We
always try to respond very rapidly, and if we can't, we make that clear at
the time. |
Suppose an executive wants
to gather information about the issues involved in setting up a food
processing plant at alternative locations in Russia (as has happened
before), or evaluate investment in the Amazon region of Brazil (as has also
happened). It should be reasonable to agree in advance that these are
unique and very complex research requests which could take a little time to
handle professionally, particularly because there may be very few reliable
sources with the necessarily specialized expertise in these markets.
On the other hand, if an established working
relationship has already enabled the GDI Solutions relationship leader to
anticipate this unique information need, then much of the necessary research
work to develop appropriate contacts and information sources may have been
completed already before the issue arises as a "hot" topic.
Just as executives are able to use their greater
knowledge of company developments, target markets, and general strategies or
plans to anticipate support needs within their companies, the relationship
leader at GDI Solutions is expected to be alert to future support needs, and
prepare to meet them even before a specific request is made.
In fact, when project confidentiality is an
issue, this sort of early information gathering can be very helpful, because
needs can be addressed as a routine research task within our normal scope of
work, rather than as a special request which might trigger curiosity about a
confidential project.
In this manner, our goal is to be prepared to
respond faster and better than anyone expected, even for difficult requirements.
